Do As We Say, Not As We Do: The Environmental Cost of Environmental Science Research
The laboratories where climate solutions are discovered are themselves significant contributors to the emissions and waste streams those solutions are meant to address. This is not a paradox that environmental science can afford to ignore indefinitely—and the cultural barriers preventing change within academic research institutions are as worthy of study as any external environmental problem.
